The SKGB Refereeing Commission have organised a workshop to train more helpers for our upcoming Karate Competitions.
Confirmation of proposed attendance should be e-mailed to robert@mcqueen3222.fsworld.co.uk Workshop details Workshop: Table Official/Scorekeeper Course Venue: Renfrew Leisure Centre, Paisley Rd., Renfrew, PA4 8LJ Date/Time: Saturday 18th August 2012 /12:00 noon to 2:00pm Cost: Free to all SKGB members Course Details:
This workshop will be an official SKGB Refereeing Commission run course, presented by Rab McQueen (SKGB Refereeing Commission Chairman) and assisted by other members of the Commission. The course will teach everything required to be able to act as a Table Official/Scorekeeper with confidence. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be available at half time.
Topics covered will include the following;
• WKF Rules for award of Points and warnings/penalties
• Recognition of Referee’s signals
• WKF scoresheet symbols explained
• Timing of bouts
• Use of Manual score sheet (hands on experience)
• Use of electronic scoreboard (hands on experience)
• Completion and use of drawsheets (both Kata and Kumite)
• Explanation of Repechage system

Referees and Coaches Kumite seminar Dear friend, The Refereeing commission of the SKGB have the pleasure of hosting a Kumite seminar with Mr Con Cassis, the World Karate Federation`s Chief Referee, on Sunday 22nd January 2012.
Mr Cassis will explain the theoretical and practical implications of the new WKF rules (Version 7) that will come into force in January 2012. This as a unique opportunity for Referees and Coaches to work with the world`s top Karate Referee.

SKGB Refereeing Commission 2007/2008 Development Program Dear Officials In line with the SKGB Development Program for 2007/2008 WKF Referee Doug James 7th Dan will be in attendance at the forthcoming National Championships in Edinburgh on the 18th November 2007. Doug has over the years played an integral part in the development of Scotland’s Karate Officials and he will be assisting with the assessment of officials who are eligible for promotion both to and within National level. Officials who attend the championships should have with them their “SKGB Karate Officials Record Book” as no promotion will be considered unless an individual meets the required criteria as evidenced within their record book.
